We-The IT Engineers (?)

To start with, I just cant see how I am gonna be called an IT Engineer at the end of these four years. We have had such elaborate tutoring of everything from Beams and columns to some freaky stuff in Electronics- But all we know in Computers is C-From the curriculum point of view- and that too, the best we could possibly do in C is make patterns or at the most build some kinda data retrieval system...Thats all!! (Try and ask a good GU student of our level and you'll know what I'm talking about, we are WAY behind...)
Firstly, I really donot blame the college, nor do i abhor the system that we are in. Because it is US who the college considers while making course preps. Its not that there are no Extra activities being carried out, nor is it that there are no Extra Technical Lectures conducted. But how can we expect them to be good if we ourselves do not participate whole heartedly? Leave that thought- First we need to START participating!! For God's sake, The college ain't a college without us in it! So we ought to make the best of it....
Secondly, and most importantly...WAKE UP!! We are the IT people. We ought to be Net savvy to the core. Its really worthless for us to start such blogs and groups if there ain't gonna be participation in it..!!
As a last word for All those who have joined this blog, Please contribute to it!
Thank you for reading this crap and enjoy your vacations! :)
Regards,
Aakar.

Exam times again. Sometimes, it feels as we are here only to give exams and complete files. The dearth of on-campus events makes it even worse. I think the problem lies with the management. The college authorities take no pains to organize any activities that might be helpful to the students. Recently loads of workshops (mostly for IT/CP) have been conducted but they too aren’t up to the mark. What we really need are seminars/workshops conducted by experts in a particular industry. They could give us an insight about various subjects that are not offered in our curriculum. Also, PDP classes should be revived (do I hear groans?) with much better instructors who are not hell-bent on showing how little we know about various tough words. They should be more accommodating and student-friendly. For the time-being, let’s hope for the best and wait and see what the future holds.

Welcome to the very first blog for GCET. This one's particularly for the students of 04IT but comments and suggestions from all the students of GCET are welcome. In this blog, you can go all out with creativity. Post pictures, poetries, jokes, stories or anything else that comes to your mind. Lets show the world what engineers are REALLY made of!
